About Us
Beginning in the year 2003,
the LaPorte County business community began expressing a desire
for an increase in small business services and support. In
response to that demand, the Michigan City Economic Development
Corporation, along with the Small Business Development Center
began sponsoring training about finance and business basics. In
addition, the Michigan City Area Chamber of Commerce initiated a
business assistance hotline and a Small Business Resource
Guide. Despite these initial efforts, many small businesses and
entrepreneurs were still in need of greater support—especially a
nurturing environment in which to grow their business and ideas
successfully. These growing demands became the basis for the
development of the Entrepreneur Center Michigan City. In 2006,
The Michigan City Area Chamber of Commerce began operating the
Entrepreneur Center Michigan City as a small business incubator
with programs aimed at providing resources to assist
entrepreneurs and small business owners. The Entrepreneur
Center Michigan City is designed to foster an entrepreneurial
culture by providing office space at a below market rate
including many businesses support services needed in those early
stages of new business development.
